"Traveling through Bolivia, we visited Maragua, a tiny isolated village where life has not changed substantially for hundreds of years. After an hour or two, the village girls relaxed and allowed their photos to be taken. Then we handed a camera to them, and watched as they experienced the magic and wonder of digital photography for the first time."

Dean Jones | Bio

"I had spent months both planning a special surprise present for my fathers 70th and keeping it a secret from everyone close to him (which was no mean feat given what it was). This picture was taken shortly after I completed my speech and announced a surprise 'guest' was about to enter the party. At first my father thought the 'guest' was inside the car... it then sank in that the 'car' was the special surprise guest. The look on my fathers face when he realized what had happened was priceless and topped off a great party and the best day of my life."

Mary Min | Bio

"In the summer of 2002, I led a team of 70 students on a trip to Europe as part of a Catholic pilgrimage. At the end of our trip in Croatia, we went to this amazing swimming hole - naturally formed by the multiple waterfalls pouring into one place. One word: paradise."

Simon Meadmore | Bio

"We came across these adolescent lions and they looked pretty nervous, I was concerned they didn't know the rule about not eating tourists. Maun Botswana."

Stewart Bonn | Bio

"I spent 8 hours prior to taking this photo hiking uphill through loose gravel to get to this vista. That is Fitz Roy Peak (11,000ft) in Patagonia, Argentina in the background where we hiked the next day (killer!). As I took this photo I had to concentrate on not falling into the pond. I was so beat."

Tim Huertas | Bio

"This photo shows my first encounter with a waterfall. It was taken with my iPhone on Hawaii's Big Island and reminds me that nature can still surprise me."

Peter Berger | Bio

"This is my favorite view from the back porch of a little house in Colorado, it was the last day of a week of hiking in the woods and late morning wake ups. With the flowers in bloom and the sun shining as we were about to leave, I had to stop and take one last shot."
